Description
Vision Engineering Mantis Stereo Microscope with 2x and 4x Objectives Eyepieceless
The Vision Engineering Mantis is a patented eyepieceless stereo inspection microscope that uses a floating-image optical system to deliver a full stereoscopic view without the need for eyepieces or eye strain. Instead of looking through traditional oculars, the operator views a three-dimensional image projected in open space above the lens head, allowing extended hands-free inspection sessions with significantly less fatigue than conventional stereo microscopes. This unit is mounted on a fully articulating boom arm, giving it wide freedom of movement over a workpiece. It includes both the Vision X2 and Vision X4 interchangeable objective lenses and a built-in halogen ring illuminator.

Applications
The Vision Engineering Mantis was designed for precision inspection and assembly work where operators need both hands free while viewing at magnification. It is widely used in electronics manufacturing and PCB rework, soldering and de-soldering, wire bonding, connector assembly, watch and jewelry repair, microsurgery support tasks, and quality inspection in industrial and scientific settings. The eyepieceless design is particularly valued in environments where operators wear glasses or work long shifts, since it eliminates the neck strain and eye fatigue associated with traditional binocular stereo microscopes. The Mantis was introduced in the early 1990s and became a standard tool in electronics assembly lines and repair benches worldwide; the design remains in production and in active use today. The boom-arm configuration shown here is suited for mounting to a bench edge or post, allowing the head to swing freely over a workpiece.
This Vision Engineering Mantis eyepieceless stereo microscope has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The housing shows normal scuffing and handling wear consistent with lab use. Both the Vision X2 and Vision X4 objectives are present and the built-in illuminators light up as seen in the photos. The unit has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
