Description
Villa Precision GS-210 Automatic Glass Scriber Single Head w/ PC-610 Computer & GS Software
The Villa Precision GS-210 is an automatic single-head glass scribing system manufactured by Villa Precision, Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona. It is designed to score glass substrates and semiconductor wafers in precise linear patterns using a diamond or carbide scribe tip mounted on a computer-controlled linear axis over a motorized rotating vacuum chuck stage. The system is driven by an integrated Industrial PC-610 PC-bus computer running Villa Precision's proprietary GS scribing software, enabling programmed automatic scribing runs as well as manual and single-step modes.

Applications
Automatic glass scribing systems like the Villa Precision GS-210 are used primarily in the manufacture of flat-panel displays, solar cells, and semiconductor substrates, where precise, repeatable score lines are required across glass or crystalline wafers before cleaving or dicing. The scribing process creates controlled fracture initiation lines that allow substrates to be broken cleanly along defined paths with minimal material loss and edge damage. The GS-210's rotating stage allows the substrate to be repositioned angularly between scribing passes, enabling both X-axis and cross-hatch scribe patterns as visible on the glass in the photos. Systems of this type were widely used in LCD and plasma display panel fabrication lines during the 1990s and early 2000s, as well as in photovoltaic cell manufacturing and research-grade semiconductor processing. The computer-controlled automatic mode allows recipe-driven scribing programs to be run with consistent depth and pressure across the substrate, while manual and single-step modes support setup, alignment, and development work. The GS-210 dates from mid-1995 based on its serial plate.
This Villa Precision GS-210 automatic single-head glass scribing system powers on and the included Industrial PC-610 computer boots into the GS software. We were unable to run a full end-to-end functional test of the scribing operation. The computer's CMOS battery has likely failed due to age, so some BIOS settings may need to be reconfigured before first use. The machine appears to be in good used condition overall — the frame, stage, and scribing head assembly all look intact and the scribed glass visible in the photos shows the system was in active production use. Some surface rust is visible on hardware components around the scribing head area. The drawer includes the original keyboard, VPI controller PCBs, a floppy disk, and miscellaneous accessories. A Linemaster Clipper foot pedal (Cat. No. 632-S) and a PTSI UPS unit are also included. Please view our full photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
