Applications
The US Robotics Sportster line was one of the most popular internal modem families of the mid-1990s, widely used in desktop PCs for dial-up internet access, bulletin board system (BBS) connections, and fax transmission. The 16-bit ISA bus interface made it compatible with the vast majority of IBM-compatible PCs of the era — from 286 and 386 machines through Pentium systems that still carried ISA slots. V.34 at 28.8 Kbps represented the practical speed ceiling for analog dial-up during much of the mid-1990s, and the field-upgradable design allowed users to step up to 33.6 Kbps as that standard became available. Today these cards are sought by vintage PC enthusiasts, retro computing hobbyists, and collectors restoring period-correct DOS and early Windows 95/98 systems, as well as anyone maintaining legacy ISA-slot industrial or embedded PCs that still require analog modem capability.
This US Robotics Sportster 28800 V.34 ISA Fax Modem card has been inspected and is in good condition. The PCB is clean with no visible damage, cracked traces, or missing components. The DIP switches on the back panel and the RJ-11 ports appear intact. Normal light handling wear is present consistent with prior installation in a PC. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
