Applications
The US Robotics Sportster series was one of the most widely used dial-up modem lines of the mid-to-late 1990s, and the Model 0467 is a typical ISA-bus representative of that era. ISA internal modems like this one were standard equipment in desktop PCs running MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, and Windows 98, connecting users to bulletin board systems (BBS), early internet service providers (ISPs), and corporate remote access servers via the public switched telephone network (PSTN). US Robotics (later acquired by 3Com) was known for producing reliable, broadly compatible modems, and the Sportster line was positioned as the consumer and small-office tier of their lineup, below the professional Courier series. Today these cards are sought after by retrocomputing enthusiasts restoring period-correct ISA-bus systems, as well as anyone maintaining legacy industrial or embedded PC equipment that still uses a dial-up or PSTN connection. The ISA bus was the dominant PC expansion standard through the early 1990s before being superseded by PCI.
This US Robotics Sportster Model 0467 (046756K) ISA internal modem card has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working desktop computer. The PCB is clean with no visible damage, cracked traces, or broken components. The bracket and RJ-11 ports are intact. Normal light wear is present consistent with prior installation.
