Description
US Military Tent Ridge Pole Sections 17ft 3in Male Female Extension 1985 1992
These are surplus US military wooden tent ridge pole sections designed for 17-foot, 3-inch ridge tent systems. The set includes three section types — male, female, and extension — that fit together to form the horizontal ridge spine of a standard military canvas tent. Manufactured by U.S. E.W. Hodge & Co. (1985), U.S. Orthopedic Equipment Co., and U.S. Universal Mfg. Co. (1992), with all manufacturer stamps clearly visible on the poles themselves.

Applications
These ridge pole sections are components of the US military's standard general-purpose canvas tent systems, which have been in use from World War II through the late Cold War era and into the 1990s. The ridge pole forms the horizontal top spine of the tent frame, supported by upright poles at each end, with the canvas draped and staked over it. The three-piece section design — male, female, and extension — allows the pole to be broken down for transport and storage in standard military field packing. These tent hardware components remain in demand for military surplus tent restoration, living history and reenactment encampments, scouting and traditional canvas camping, and civilian buyers maintaining older GP Medium, GP Small, or similar surplus canvas tents that use the same 17-foot 3-inch ridge pole specification. Surplus military tent hardware is also used in disaster relief staging and remote field operations where heavy-duty canvas shelter systems are deployed.
These US Military Tent Ridge Pole Sections for 17ft 3-inch pole systems are in good used condition with normal wear consistent with military surplus storage. The wooden poles show light surface weathering and handling marks typical of surplus field equipment. The stamped manufacturer markings are clear and legible on all three sections. Metal end hardware and connector pins are present and appear intact. These are non-powered structural components — no electrical testing applies.
