Applications
The ATX power supply standard was introduced by Intel in 1995 and became the dominant form factor for desktop PC power supplies through the late 1990s and 2000s. A 20-pin ATX PSU like this one is compatible with motherboards from that era — including Socket 370, Socket A (462), Socket 478, and early Socket 754/939 platforms — making it a practical replacement or spare for vintage and legacy desktop builds. The 20-pin connector was the standard before the 24-pin connector took over with the introduction of PCI Express motherboards around 2004, though 20-pin units can also be used with 24-pin boards (the extra 4 pins are optional on many boards).
