Applications

The Dynadock V belongs to Toshiba's line of USB-based universal docking stations, designed for laptop users who want a quick and cable-free way to connect to a full suite of desktop peripherals. Because it connects via standard USB 2.0 rather than a proprietary port, it works with virtually any Windows laptop or desktop with a USB port — not just Toshiba machines. A typical setup uses the single USB cable to simultaneously drive an external DVI monitor (or VGA monitor via the included adapter), a wired Ethernet network connection, external speakers or headphones, a microphone, and additional USB peripherals. The powered side USB port supports Toshiba's USB Sleep & Charge feature, which keeps charging connected devices even when the host computer is in sleep mode. These USB docking stations were a practical solution in the late 2000s and early 2010s for users who moved frequently between desk and mobile work, and units like the Dynadock V remain useful today for older Windows systems that lack built-in DisplayPort or USB-C docking support.
