Applications
Slim port replicators like the PA3156U were developed alongside ultraportable laptops of the late 1990s and early 2000s — machines so thin that full-size ports were omitted to save weight. The Toshiba Portege 2000, released around 2001, was one of the thinnest laptops of its era and relied on an external replicator like this one for LAN connectivity, an external monitor, and USB peripherals. Users who moved between a travel setup and a fixed desk could drop the laptop onto the replicator and regain desktop functionality instantly. The integrated secondary battery charging circuit was a distinguishing feature: with the replicator, a spare high-capacity battery could be charged through the dock while the laptop ran on its internal battery — a practical advantage for road warriors. These units remain useful today for anyone maintaining a Portege 2000 system or looking to restore a complete original setup.
This Toshiba PA3156U Slim Port Replicator for the Portege 2000 series is in like-new condition and comes in its original OEM box. The unit shows no meaningful wear and presents exceptionally well. As visible in the photos, the box, port replicator, AC adapter, power cable, and user manual are all present — contrary to the original listing note, the manual is visible and included. Please review our photos carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
