Applications

The Toshiba Portege 7000 series were thin-and-light laptops from the late 1990s that sacrificed built-in legacy ports to achieve a slim profile. The PA2728U I/O Adaptor restores access to the parallel port (for printers and parallel-port peripherals) and the serial port (for external modems, PDAs, serial mice, and serial data devices) that the laptop body itself did not include. This type of port expander was a standard accessory for ultraportable laptops of the era, allowing users to connect to office printers and legacy serial equipment without carrying a full docking station. It remains useful today for anyone maintaining a Portege 7000 system or needing to connect legacy serial/parallel devices to it.
