Applications

The Toshiba 32D46 is a mid-2000s standard-definition CRT television typical of the transition era when flat-panel LCD and plasma sets were becoming mainstream but CRT sets still dominated the value segment. TheaterView SD was Toshiba's branding for their flat-front CRT line aimed at home theater use at a mainstream price point. Sets like this are still used today for retro gaming — CRT televisions are specifically sought by collectors and enthusiasts of classic consoles (Nintendo, Sega, Sony PlayStation) because their native analog signal handling, low input lag, and scan-line rendering produce the visual output these consoles were designed for. The composite and S-Video front inputs make it directly compatible with the most common retro console output formats without adapters. It is also suitable as a secondary TV, a monitor for security/surveillance analog cameras, or for any application requiring a reliable analog color display.
