The Tomy MRX-152 is a benchtop high-speed refrigerated micro centrifuge capable of reaching 15,000 RPM. It features an integrated induction drive motor and a self-contained refrigeration system, allowing temperature-controlled centrifugation in a single compact floor-standing unit. The front control panel provides independent digital displays for temperature (°C), speed (RPM), and run time, with up/down controls for each parameter and dedicated FUNC, SEL, SET, START, and STOP/FLASH buttons.

Applications
The Tomy MRX-152 is designed for high-speed centrifugation of microtubes (1.5 mL and 2.0 mL format) in research and clinical laboratory environments. The integrated refrigeration system makes it well-suited for temperature-sensitive biological samples, including nucleic acid precipitation, protein pelleting, cell fractionation, and other molecular biology protocols where maintaining low temperatures during centrifugation is critical. The MRX series was widely deployed in academic research labs, pharmaceutical R&D, and clinical diagnostic facilities throughout the 1990s and 2000s and remains compatible with standard 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tubes commonly used in life science workflows. Replacement rotors for the MRX-152 platform, including the TMA-6 and other compatible rotor models, are available on the secondary market.
This Tomy MRX-152 High Speed Refrigerated Micro Centrifuge has been powered and tested at our facility and is in good working order. The unit ran smoothly at speeds up to 14,000 RPM with no vibration issues noted. The refrigeration system was confirmed operational: with the lowest temperature setting of -15°C engaged, the unit cooled to 0°C and held that temperature steadily over an hour of continuous operation. The cabinet exterior shows general wear consistent with laboratory use, and the rotor chamber bowl shows accumulated residue and some soiling around the inner wall — visible in our photos.
