Applications

TIE Communications was a major supplier of key telephone systems and PBX equipment to business offices in the 1970s and 1980s. Key system phones like the W-2260 were used in small-to-medium offices where multiple users needed to share and monitor several outside lines simultaneously — each button on the phone corresponded to a line appearance or a speed-dial/feature key on the PBX. TIE's key systems were widely deployed in corporate, government, and institutional settings during this era, competing with AT&T, Rolm, and NEC offerings. Today, the W-2260 is sought by collectors of vintage office technology and by organizations maintaining legacy TIE key system installations that are still in service.

Condition: Used
This TIE Communications W-2260 32-Button PBX Office Phone has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The beige housing shows normal yellowing and light surface wear consistent with age — this phone dates from December 1985 per the bottom label. The handset and coiled cord are present. The 32-button key panel and base show no obvious cracks or heavy damage. The phone has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it was pulled from a working office environment where it was previously in use.
