Description
Thermotron LBD-883 Mini Environmental Chamber 120V 1PH 50/60Hz 4A FC-48
The Thermotron LBD-883 is a compact, benchtop liquid immersion environmental chamber designed for thermal testing of small components and assemblies. Unlike conventional forced-air chambers, the LBD-883 uses perfluorinated fluid FC-48 as the immersion medium, surrounding the device under test for rapid, uniform temperature transfer. The chamber is manufactured by Thermotron Corporation of Holland, Michigan, a long-established maker of environmental test equipment.

Applications
The Thermotron LBD-883 is used for liquid immersion thermal shock and thermal cycling testing of small electronic components, circuit boards, semiconductors, and assemblies. Liquid immersion environmental chambers like the LBD-883 provide significantly faster thermal transfer rates than air chambers, making them well suited for accelerated life testing, environmental stress screening (ESS), and qualification testing where rapid temperature transitions are required. Perfluorinated fluids such as FC-48 are chemically inert and electrically non-conductive, allowing live devices to be tested while submerged. This type of equipment has been used in aerospace, defense electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, and commercial electronics development and production environments. The LBD-883's compact benchtop footprint makes it practical for lab benches and small test cells where a full walk-in chamber would be impractical.
This Thermotron LBD-883 Mini Environmental Chamber has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was in active use and functional. The stainless steel exterior shows normal wear consistent with lab use, including scuffing and paint wear on the body panels. The front control panel, Omega CN9000A temperature controller, toggle switch, and timer are all present and intact. The interior chamber is intact with no visible damage. A calibration sticker is present on the front panel. Note: this unit is designed to operate with heater and sensor immersed in perfluorinated fluid FC-48 (not included).
