Applications
Thermolyne hot plates like the Model 300 are standard benchtop heating instruments in chemistry, biology, and general research laboratories. They are used for tasks such as heating solutions, maintaining reaction temperatures, evaporating solvents, and warming glassware. Heat-only hot plates (without a stir motor) are common in settings where simple, reliable thermal control is needed without the complexity of combined stir-heat units. The Thermolyne 300 series dates from the era when Thermolyne Corporation was a well-known U.S. scientific instrument maker operating under the Sybron Corporation umbrella — a period roughly spanning the 1970s through the 1990s. These units were found in university labs, industrial QC benches, and research facilities across North America. Comparable hot plates of this type remain in active use in labs today for basic heating tasks.
This Thermolyne VWR Model 300 laboratory hot plate has been inspected and pulled from a working lab environment where it was previously in use. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. The ceramic top plate shows a prominent burn and chemical stain ring from prior use. The blue metal housing shows significant cosmetic wear including heavy paint chipping, surface rust, and corrosion, particularly on the base and lower panels. The HEAT control knob and front panel badge are intact. The power cord is present and attached. Please view our photo set carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
