Description

Hotpack 733 Electric Vacuum Oven 0.81 CF 35-300C 115V 11.5A 4-Shelf Laboratory

The Hotpack Model 733 is a benchtop electric vacuum oven built by The Electric Hotpack Company, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA — a manufacturer of controlled-temperature equipment since 1908. This unit combines electric heating with a vacuum chamber, allowing moisture, solvents, and gases to be removed from samples at lower temperatures than would be possible at atmospheric pressure. The 0.81 cubic foot chamber accommodates four shelf rack positions, making it suitable for processing multiple samples simultaneously.

Applications

Vacuum ovens like the Hotpack 733 are standard equipment in laboratory, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and materials research environments. By reducing the internal pressure, they allow moisture, residual solvents, binders, and other volatiles to be driven off at temperatures well below their atmospheric boiling points — making them especially useful for drying heat-sensitive materials, outgassing components, curing coatings, and processing samples that would degrade or oxidize in a conventional oven. The 35–300°C temperature range covers a wide array of applications from gentle drying of biological specimens to higher-temperature processing of ceramics, powders, and electronic components. Hotpack was a well-regarded US manufacturer of this type of controlled-temperature laboratory equipment from the early twentieth century through several decades of industrial and scientific lab use, and their vacuum ovens were widely found in university research labs, QC environments, and industrial process development settings.

Condition: Used
This Hotpack Model 733 Electric Vacuum Oven was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The exterior cabinet shows typical wear for its age — the grey-blue finish has minor scuffs and surface marks consistent with lab use. The interior chamber walls show discoloration and light residue from prior use, and several shelf racks are present. The door gasket (orange silicone seal) appears intact and in usable shape. The door latch mechanism is present and functional-looking. The control panel dials and red indicator lights are intact; handwritten calibration reference notes are visible on the top panel. The power cord is 12/3 gauge with a 3-prong plug that shows some wear and discoloration on the prongs. The vacuum gauge (Marsh Instrument Company, 0–30 in Hg) is present on the side panel. This unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
