Description
Tektronix 7L5 Spectrum Analyzer Plug-In Module 0-5MHz Digital Storage 7000
The Tektronix 7L5 is a spectrum analyzer plug-in module designed for use with the Tektronix 7000-series oscilloscope mainframes. It provides low-frequency RF spectrum analysis from 0 to 5 MHz, with an integrated digital storage display for capturing and examining spectral data. As a plug-in instrument, the 7L5 slots into any compatible 7000-series mainframe — such as the 7603, 7704, 7904, or 7834 — and uses the mainframe's display, timebase, and power resources.

Applications
The Tektronix 7000-series plug-in system was one of the most flexible and widely used modular test platforms of the 1970s and 1980s. Engineers and technicians configured a single mainframe with interchangeable plug-ins — spectrum analyzers, sampling units, logic analyzers, and more — making the system highly versatile for electronics labs, R&D environments, and production test benches. The 7L5 specifically covers the audio and low-RF spectrum (DC to 5 MHz), making it suited for characterizing amplifier frequency response, analyzing power supply ripple and noise, evaluating audio electronics, and examining low-frequency RF signals. The digital storage capability allowed users to capture transient or intermittent spectral events for later review — a notable feature for its era. Today, 7000-series plug-ins remain sought after by vintage test equipment collectors, electronics educators, and engineers maintaining legacy instrumentation. A compatible 7000-series mainframe is required to operate this module.
This Tektronix 7L5 Spectrum Analyzer plug-in module has been visually inspected and shows typical wear consistent with prior lab or field use. The front panel labels and silkscreen markings are legible, the control knobs are present and intact, and the BNC input connectors appear in good shape. The aluminum chassis shows light scuffing and handling marks on the exterior. This unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service.
