Applications

The Tektronix P6245 is a 1.5 GHz, 10X active probe designed for use with Tektronix oscilloscopes. Active probes use an integrated FET amplifier at the probe tip rather than a passive resistive divider, which allows them to maintain high bandwidth and low capacitive loading on the circuit under test — critical when measuring fast signals on high-frequency digital or RF circuits where a standard passive probe would load and distort the signal. The P6245 was introduced in the mid-to-late 1990s and is compatible with a range of Tektronix TDS-series digital oscilloscopes that provide the TekProbe interface, which supplies power and communicates probe scaling automatically. This instruction manual is the primary reference for proper setup, compensation, grounding, and safety when using the P6245, and is an important resource for technicians working with these probes in electronics labs, R&D environments, and high-speed digital or RF test applications.
