Applications
The TCL 2110 Multiport Transceiver is a data communications device from the 1980s–early 1990s era of serial networking, when RS-232 and related serial standards were the dominant means of connecting terminals, printers, modems, and other peripherals to host systems. Modular transceiver chassis like the 2110 were used in data centers, industrial facilities, and enterprise computing environments to consolidate many serial connections into a single managed unit — commonly interfacing minicomputers, mainframe front-end processors, or PBX systems with clusters of terminals or remote devices. The card-based architecture allowed operators to configure different port types within one chassis. Equipment of this type was widely deployed in IBM, DEC, and other midrange computing environments of the period. Today, these units are sought by maintainers of legacy serial networks, industrial control systems still running RS-232 infrastructure, and collectors of vintage data communications hardware.
This TCL 2110 Multiport Transceiver has been visually inspected and appears to be in good used condition. We were unable to power or test the unit at our facility, so it is being sold as-inspected. The chassis and installed cards show normal wear consistent with prior use — the photos of the teal/green chassis variant show some surface scuffing and light soiling on the side panels, which is typical for equipment of this age.
