Applications

The Sun Enterprise E3000 was a mid-1990s to early-2000s mid-range SPARC server from Sun Microsystems, part of the Sun Enterprise series that also included the E3500, E4500, E6500, and larger systems. These servers were used in enterprise data centers for business-critical applications, database workloads, and application serving running Solaris. The I/O Type 4 Board is the chassis module that provides external connectivity — hosting the ports through which the server communicates with storage, terminals, and peripheral devices. Organizations maintaining legacy E3000 systems, or those needing replacement boards for spares inventory, are the primary buyers for this type of component today. The board dates from the late-1990s era of Sun's UltraSPARC-based enterprise computing.
