Applications
The Star SP200 series is an impact dot matrix receipt printer built for point-of-sale use in retail stores, restaurants, bars, and similar environments. Unlike thermal printers, dot matrix impact printers can print on multi-part paper stock — useful for kitchen order tickets and carbon-copy receipts. The SP200 series was a common fixture in POS setups from the 1990s through the early 2000s, often paired with cash registers, retail terminals, and legacy POS software running on DOS or early Windows platforms. The parallel interface makes it straightforward to connect to any PC or POS terminal with a standard Centronics parallel port.
