Description
Star NR15 Dot Matrix Printer Impact Printing Parallel Port
The Star NR15 is a 24-pin dot matrix impact printer designed for high-volume printing of receipts, invoices, reports, and continuous-form documents. This workhorse printer uses impact technology — a steel pin cartridge striking an inked ribbon against paper — delivering crisp, duplicable output suitable for multi-part forms and archives. The NR15 connects via parallel (Centronics) interface to DOS, Windows, and legacy computer systems, and was widely deployed in retail, hospitality, warehouse, and office environments where reliability and form-feed capability were essential.

Applications
Dot matrix impact printers like the NR15 are legacy printing technology still actively used in environments where mechanical reliability, form-feed accuracy, and multi-part document capability matter most — retail checkouts, shipping/receiving, warehousing, and mainframe/minicomputer installations that have not yet migrated to modern printing. The impact method produces output suitable for archival (impact ink bonds chemically to paper, resisting fading) and is the only technology that reliably drives multi-part carbonless forms through the printer. The Star NR15 represents the late-era dot matrix standard, benefiting from refined mechanics and faster throughput than earlier models. Though superseded by inkjet and thermal technologies for general office use, dot matrix printers remain in service wherever legacy systems, critical data records, or continuous-form invoicing persist. This is a 1980s–1990s-era printer, a generation known for durability and repairability.
This Star NR15 dot matrix impact printer has been tested and confirmed to print copies at our facility. It is in used condition with normal wear consistent with its age and operating history. The unit has not been refurbished and may have minor mechanical wear typical of legacy printers. This printer is available for local pickup only — we do not ship due to the fragility of mechanical dot matrix components and the risk of damage in transit. No consumables (ribbon, paper, tractor feed belts) are included. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
