Description
Stainless Steel Vacuum Drive Unit Hurst 4 RPM Motor 15V 60Hz 3W 2x25.75 Tube
This is a stainless steel rotary vacuum drive unit designed for use inside or on a vacuum chamber, consisting of a long stainless steel drive tube coupled to a Hurst synchronous gear motor mounted at the top. The assembly passes rotary motion into a vacuum environment through a sealed feedthrough arrangement, allowing external motor power to drive an internal mechanism — a common configuration in vacuum deposition, thin-film processing, and scientific vacuum systems. A vacuum-compatible flange fitting at the lower section of the drive tube provides the chamber interface.

Applications
Motorized vacuum feedthrough drive units like this are used in vacuum chambers for thin-film deposition, physical vapor deposition (PVD), sputtering, and other vacuum processing systems where a slow, controlled rotation is needed inside the chamber — for example, rotating a substrate holder, sample stage, or source shutter. The Hurst synchronous motor series has been a long-running choice for these applications because of its precise, low-speed synchronous rotation and compact form factor. At 4 RPM, this unit is suited for applications requiring slow, steady rotation of in-chamber components. The stainless steel construction is appropriate for vacuum-compatible environments where outgassing and chemical compatibility are concerns. Systems of this type have been widely used in semiconductor research, optical coating, and university laboratory vacuum setups from the 1980s onward and remain in service in legacy and research vacuum systems today.
This stainless steel vacuum drive unit with Hurst 4 RPM motor has been inspected and is in good condition. The unit shows normal wear consistent with previous lab or vacuum system use, including some surface oxidation and discoloration on the lower drive shaft and flange area, as visible in the photos. The Hurst Model A motor (P/N 3002-0005) and internal drive mechanism appear intact, with wiring leads present. The vacuum flange fitting and drive tube show no obvious damage.
