Description
Sony UP-1200A Mavigraph Color Video Printer S-Video BNC Composite Input
The Sony UP-1200A is a desktop color video printer from Sony's Mavigraph line, designed to produce hard-copy color prints directly from a composite or S-Video video signal. Using a dye-sublimation or thermal printing process, it captures a single video frame and outputs a full-color print without requiring a computer — connecting directly to a VCR, camera, or video switcher. The unit features both S-Video and BNC composite video inputs and outputs, with a 75-ohm impedance switch and dual remote control jacks for integration into larger video systems.

Applications
The Sony Mavigraph UP-1200A was part of Sony's line of standalone video printers, widely used in broadcast, video production, medical imaging, and surveillance environments during the 1990s where a quick, computer-free hard copy of a video frame was needed. These printers were commonly found in hospitals for ultrasound and endoscopy documentation, in security and law enforcement for capturing video evidence, and in professional video production facilities for client approvals and logging. The dual S-Video and composite BNC I/O allows it to be inserted inline into a video signal chain without breaking the feed. Today, units like this are still sought for legacy video production workflows, analog video archiving, and as collectible professional AV equipment from the analog video era.
This Sony UP-1200A Mavigraph Color Video Printer has been inspected and shows some cosmetic damage. The unit has light scuffing and surface marks on the casing consistent with prior use; the front panel and chassis show normal age-related wear. A partial ink ribbon cartridge (TM/MB type) is installed. The printer has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but came out of a working environment where it was previously in use.
