Applications
The Sony SAT-B65 was a DirecTV-branded satellite receiver sold in the early 2000s during the peak of direct-broadcast satellite (DBS) television in North America. DirecTV receivers of this era used a proprietary smart card and phone line connection to authorize subscriptions and order pay-per-view content. The SAT-B65 represents the entry-level tier of Sony's DirecTV lineup from that period, offering a straightforward set-top receiver for standard-definition satellite TV without an integrated DVR. Today these units are sought by collectors of early DBS equipment, hobbyists experimenting with free-to-air satellite signals, or technicians working on legacy DirecTV system setups. The receiver's S-Video output made it compatible with higher-quality displays of its era, including CRT televisions and early flat panels with S-Video inputs.
This Sony SAT-B65 DirecTV Digital Satellite Receiver has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility. The unit shows light surface scratches across the top and front panels, consistent with normal use — visible in the photos. The rear panel connectors appear intact and undamaged. The AC power cord is included. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
