Applications
The PCGA-DB7 was part of Sony's accessory ecosystem for the Vaio notebook line during the late 1990s to early 2000s — an era when Sony invested heavily in multimedia-capable laptops with DV video editing as a selling point. The dock was designed to sit on a desk and serve as a permanent connection hub: a user could slide the Vaio in and immediately have access to a full desktop monitor via VGA, a wired network connection, external speakers, a printer via the parallel port, and SCSI storage or scanners — all without touching individual cables. The DV In/Out port made it particularly useful alongside Sony's MiniDV camcorders, which were popular at the time. The RCA composite video input allowed analog video sources to feed into the laptop for capture. Today the PCGA-DB7 is sought by collectors and users maintaining legacy Vaio systems, as well as anyone using original Sony Vaio hardware in a dedicated workstation setup.
This Sony PCGA-DB7 Vaio Laptop Docking Station has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it came out of a working environment where it was previously in use. The housing shows minor surface scuffs typical of normal use, and the port connectors appear intact. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
