Applications
The SMA Sunny Boy series is one of the most widely deployed lines of residential grid-tie solar inverters in North America. The SB 3800-US-10 was commonly installed in rooftop PV systems in the 3–4kW range, including SolarCity (now Tesla Energy) residential installations. These inverters accept DC input from a string of photovoltaic panels and synchronize AC output to the utility grid at 240VAC 60Hz. Units from this generation are sought after for board-level repair, component harvesting (capacitors, inductors, transformers, communication modules), and replacement of failed units in existing residential solar installations where the same model is already permitted and interconnected.
