Applications
The Sharp Compet line was one of Sharp's flagship series of electronic printing calculators, widely used in offices, accounting departments, retail back offices, and bookkeeping environments from the 1970s through the 1990s. The QS-1710 is a later model in that tradition, combining a readable VFD readout with a built-in printer for producing paper tape records of calculations — essential for audit trails, expense tallies, and transaction logging. These desktop printing calculators remain in use today in small businesses and accounting offices that prefer a dedicated 10-key machine with a paper record over a purely electronic or software-based solution. The VFD display, characteristic of Sharp's Compet calculators from this period, offers crisp, bright readability under office lighting.
This Sharp QS-1710 Compet 10-Key Printing Calculator is in good used condition overall. The plastic housing has some discoloration — a common characteristic of aged ABS plastic on equipment from this era — but the unit shows no cracks, chips, or structural damage. The keyboard, VFD display, and paper tape mechanism all appear intact and complete. The calculator comes with its power cord. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
