Description
SCM Microsystems PCID2-3C 190-0080-01 PCI PC Card PCMCIA CardBus Controller
The SCM Microsystems PCID2-3C is a PCI-bus controller card that adds two PCMCIA/PC Card (CardBus) slots to a desktop computer with an available PCI slot. Built around a Texas Instruments PCIbus bridge controller, the PCID2-3C lets the host system read and write PC Cards — including memory cards, modem cards, network adapters, storage cards, and other Type I/II/III peripherals — through a standard PCI interface. The board is marked Part Number 190-0080-01, Revision 1.0, and was manufactured by SCM Microsystems in 1999.

Applications
PCI-to-PCMCIA controller cards like the PCID2-3C were a common solution in the late 1990s and early 2000s for adding PC Card (PCMCIA) capability to desktop PCs and workstations — machines that did not natively include PC Card slots the way laptops did. This allowed desktop users to use the same Type II modem cards, ATA flash storage cards, wireless network adapters, and other PC Card peripherals that were designed primarily for portable computers. SCM Microsystems was a well-known supplier of smart card and PC Card interface hardware; their PCID2 series cards were used in corporate desktop environments, kiosk systems, point-of-sale terminals, and embedded PCs that needed removable-card I/O. Today these cards are primarily useful for maintaining or extending legacy desktop systems that need to interface with older PC Card-format storage or communication devices, or for industrial and embedded applications where PC Card peripherals are still in service.
This SCM Microsystems PCID2-3C PCI PCMCIA CardBus controller card (P/N 190-0080-01) has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB is clean with no visible cracks, burn marks, or component damage. The PCI edge connector and PCMCIA slot connectors look intact. The metal bracket shows some light dirt and handling wear consistent with previous installation in a desktop system. This card was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use and has not been bench-tested at our facility. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
