Applications

The S3 Virge was one of the first single-chip 2D/3D accelerators and appeared in a wide range of mid-1990s PCI desktop cards. It was a common graphics solution for Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 PCs of that era, providing accelerated 2D GUI performance and basic hardware 3D support for early Direct3D and S3D titles. Cards like this are now sought by collectors and enthusiasts building or restoring vintage 486 and early Pentium systems, particularly machines targeting period-correct Windows 95 setups or DOS/early Windows gaming configurations. The PCI interface makes it compatible with any standard 32-bit PCI slot desktop from the mid-to-late 1990s.
