Applications

Revco ULT freezers are a long-established standard in laboratory and scientific settings for the storage of temperature-sensitive biological samples, including enzymes, cell cultures, plasma, vaccines, and reagents that require stable sub-ambient temperatures down to -80°C or -85°C. The ULT1185 was widely used in academic research labs, hospital and clinical labs, pharmaceutical facilities, and biorepositories. Ultra-low freezers of this class use a cascade refrigeration system — two compressor stages in series — to achieve temperatures well below what a conventional freezer can reach. A buyer with the ability to service and recharge the refrigerant system could return this unit to use at a fraction of the cost of a new ULT freezer, which can run $5,000–$15,000 or more new.
