Retro-Ray Triple Prism Surveying System 3-Prism Set w/ Leather Carry Case
This is a Retro-Ray triple-prism reflector system used in land surveying and EDM (Electronic Distance Measurement) applications. The assembly holds three corner-cube retroreflector prisms in a compact orange housing with a threaded stud mount at the top, designed to attach to a standard prism pole or tribrach adapter. It is being sold as-is and includes the original leather carry case.

Applications
Triple-prism reflector systems are used in land surveying to extend the effective range and signal strength of a total station or EDM instrument. By grouping three corner-cube prisms together, the assembly returns a stronger reflected signal than a single prism, making it especially useful for long-distance measurements or in conditions where a single prism would not return a reliable reading. The Retro-Ray brand was produced in the United States and was a recognized name in surveying reflector equipment, commonly used by land surveyors, civil engineers, and construction layout crews. Triple prism assemblies remain in use today wherever a total station or laser-based EDM system is deployed, and they are compatible with a wide range of instrument brands including Sokkia, Topcon, Leica, Nikon, and Trimble (subject to confirming the prism constant and mount thread compatibility).
This Retro-Ray Triple Prism Surveying System is being sold as-is. It came from a retired surveyor who reported it was in working condition, but we have not tested or evaluated it ourselves here at our facility. The three prism faces show light scratching and some internal marks consistent with field use — visible in the photos. The orange housing is in good cosmetic shape with minor scuffs. The leather carry case shows noticeable wear: the seams are fraying and the canvas binding is separating in spots, though the case still holds together and includes a shoulder strap.
