Applications
The LifeAir-10 is a type of Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus (EEBA) — a category of short-duration self-contained breathing device used in mining, chemical processing, oil and gas, utilities, and other industries where workers may be exposed to sudden atmospheric hazards. Unlike full entry-rated SCBA units, escape-only devices like the LifeAir-10 are designed to be compact, instantly donnable, and carried on the person or stored at strategic locations throughout a facility. MSHA certification makes this unit appropriate for underground mining and other federally regulated workplaces. When an alarm sounds or a toxic release occurs, a worker dons the unit in seconds using the pull-strap deployment sequence and exits the area using the 10-minute air supply. These units are standard equipment in many confined-space, mining, and hazardous-material-handling environments, and remain in widespread use today wherever MSHA or NIOSH compliance is required.
⚠ Important Safety Notice: This unit is sold as used surplus equipment. Compressed-air escape breathing apparatus must be professionally inspected, serviced, and recertified by a qualified technician before being placed into active safety service. Compressed-air cylinders require periodic hydrostatic testing, and hood/valve assemblies must be verified per current MSHA/NIOSH requirements. Do not rely on this unit for life-safety purposes without prior professional certification.
This Respiratory Systems Inc LifeAir-10 Emergency Escape Breathing Apparatus has been visually inspected and photographed. The orange hard storage case shows light surface scuffing consistent with storage and handling but the latches close firmly and the case appears intact. The blue nylon carry bag is present with its shoulder strap and the MSHA/NIOSH instruction label is clearly legible. The compressed air cylinder/hood assembly is visible inside the bag. Because this is a safety-critical escape breathing device, buyers should have the unit professionally inspected, serviced, and recertified by a qualified technician before placing it into active service — compressed air cylinders require periodic hydrostatic testing and the hood/valve assembly should be verified per current regulatory requirements. We are selling this as a used surplus item. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
