Applications

The Quantum Bigfoot series was produced in the mid-to-late 1990s and occupies a unique place in PC storage history. At a time when most hard drives had migrated to the 3.5" form factor, Quantum released the Bigfoot line in the older 5.25" full-height bay format — allowing the drives to use larger platters and achieve competitive capacities at a lower cost per megabyte. The tradeoff was slower rotational speed (typically 4,000–5,400 RPM) compared to contemporary 3.5" drives.
