Applications

The ProScan PS35152 is a large-screen CRT television from the early 1990s, a period when 37-inch CRTs represented the top tier of consumer home entertainment displays. ProScan was Thomson/RCA's premium brand, positioned above the standard RCA line with upgraded audio circuitry, HI-FI stereo, and surround sound pre-outputs — features aimed at home theater use in the era before flat-panel displays. The dual composite inputs and S-Video connection make this set well-suited for use with VCRs, laserdisc players, early DVD players, and retro game consoles that benefit from S-Video output quality. The external and surround speaker binding posts allow connection to a separate speaker system. Today, large CRT televisions like this are sought after by retro gaming enthusiasts — particularly for 240p and 480i console content — because CRTs render the phosphor-based graphics of era-correct consoles without the input lag and upscaling artifacts of modern flat panels. This unit was assembled in the USA at Thomson's Bloomington, Indiana plant.
