Description
Precision Scientific 183 All Stainless Steel Heated Water Bath 120V 400W 100C
The Precision Scientific Model 183 is an all stainless steel benchtop heated water bath designed for consistent, controlled-temperature liquid heating in laboratory settings. The front control panel features two large rotary dials — a Temperature Control and a High Temperature Limit — each with an amber indicator light, plus a rocker power switch. The stainless steel bath basin and matching hinged lid with lift knob are constructed entirely of stainless steel for easy cleaning and corrosion resistance.

Applications
Benchtop heated water baths like the Precision Scientific 183 are standard equipment in biology, chemistry, microbiology, and clinical laboratories. They are used for incubating samples and cultures, warming reagents and media, performing enzyme reactions at controlled temperatures, thawing biological samples, and running serological and immunoassay procedures. The high-temperature limit control allows users to set a safety cutoff independent of the working temperature setpoint, making these units suitable for unattended operation. The all-stainless steel construction makes the Model 183 well-suited for environments where chemical resistance and easy decontamination are important. Precision Scientific (a Chicago-based lab equipment manufacturer, later part of the GCA/Precision Scientific Group) produced the Model 183 series from the 1980s through the 1990s, and units remain in use today in teaching labs, research facilities, and industrial quality-control settings.
This Precision Scientific Model 183 Stainless Steel Heated Water Bath has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition overall. The white painted exterior housing is clean with minor scuffs typical of lab use. The interior stainless steel basin shows mineral deposits and staining on the bottom and walls — normal for a heated water bath that has been in service — and can be cleaned with a descaling solution. The stainless steel lid and power cord are included. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it was pulled from a working lab environment where it was previously in use.
