Applications
Power Designs Inc. was a New York-based manufacturer of precision laboratory power supplies active from the 1950s through the 1980s, well regarded in electronics labs, universities, and research facilities for their stable, well-regulated benchtop DC supplies. The 2015R is a classic transistorized linear regulated supply from that era — a design that predates switching power supplies and is valued for its low noise and smooth regulation. Instruments like the 2015R are used on the electronics bench for powering circuits under development, biasing transistors and op-amps, running sensors, and any application requiring a clean, adjustable low-voltage DC source. The dual constant-voltage / constant-current capability makes the supply useful for both voltage-sensitive circuits and current-limited applications such as battery charging or LED testing. Vintage Power Designs units remain popular with electronics hobbyists, technicians, and collectors who appreciate the analog meter feedback and robust linear design.
This Power Designs Inc. 2015R Transistorized DC Power Supply is in used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The chassis shows the wear you'd expect from a vintage benchtop instrument of this era — the teal/blue-gray paint has some scuffs and handling marks, and the rear heat sink panel shows noticeable oxidation and patina. The front panel, analog meter face, and controls appear intact and complete. The power cord is attached. This unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility.
