Applications
The Pioneer SX series receivers from the early-to-mid 1970s were among the most popular and respected home stereo receivers of their era, widely used in living-room hi-fi systems paired with turntables, reel-to-reel decks, and cassette transports. The SX-737, introduced in 1974, sits between the more modest SX-636 and the more powerful SX-838 in Pioneer's lineup, offering a balance of output power and features that made it a mainstream choice for serious home listeners. Today these receivers are sought after by vintage audio enthusiasts for their warm sound character, solid build quality, reliable Sanken output transistors, and the distinctive blue-dial aesthetic that defined Pioneer's styling in this period. They are commonly used in secondary hi-fi systems, paired with period-correct turntables, and restored by vintage audio hobbyists. The dual tape loop connections (Tape 1 and Tape 2) made this receiver well suited to dubbing between decks, a common home recording workflow of the era.
This Pioneer SX-737 AM/FM stereo receiver has been tested and is in working order. The walnut wood cabinet is in good used condition with normal wear consistent with age. The brushed aluminum faceplate shows some scuffing and minor marks visible in the photos, particularly on the lower left section of the front panel. The blue dial illumination lights up correctly.
