Applications

The Omron E3X series fiber-optic sensor amplifiers are widely used in factory automation for detecting small parts, verifying component presence, and controlling positioning on assembly lines and conveyor systems. Because the sensing head is a passive fiber-optic element rather than an electronic one, E3X amplifiers can place the detection point in tight spaces, high-temperature areas, or environments with electrical noise or limited physical access — situations where a self-contained sensor body cannot fit. The NPN output is compatible with the vast majority of Japanese and Asian-market PLCs and automation controllers, including Omron's own CP, CJ, and CS series. The L-ON/D-ON mode switch allows the output logic to be configured for either light-on or dark-on detection without rewiring, making it flexible across a wide range of sensing tasks including color mark detection, label sensing, and transparent object detection.
