Applications
The Printing-Nikkor series was developed by Nikon specifically for graphic arts, photomechanical reproduction, and process photography — applications that demand flat-field correction and uniform sharpness edge-to-edge at close-to-1:1 magnification ratios, unlike general photographic lenses which are optimized for infinity focus. These lenses were widely used on process cameras, enlargers, and copy stands in commercial printing, pre-press, and scientific imaging environments from the mid-20th century through the film-to-digital transition era. The 150mm focal length at f/2.8 gives a useful working distance for copy work at ratios around 1:1. Today, Printing-Nikkor lenses are sought by macro and copy photographers, large-format camera users, and film enlarger builders who need a flat-field optic with proven optical quality. This Nikon Printing-Nikkor 150mm f/2.8 process and enlarging lens has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The barrel shows light wear consistent with age and prior professional use, including minor surface marks visible on the outer rings. The front element appears clean with multicoating intact, as seen in the close-up photo. The aperture and reproduction ratio rings turn smoothly.
