Applications
The MR814 dates from the early-2000s era of consumer broadband adoption, when 802.11b was the dominant Wi-Fi standard before 802.11g took over around 2003. It was designed for small home and small-office networks where a single broadband connection — DSL or cable — needed to be shared among a handful of PCs. The four-port wired switch handled desktop machines while the 802.11b radio served laptops and early Wi-Fi devices within roughly 100–150 feet. Today the MR814 is too slow for modern broadband and Wi-Fi demands, but it remains functional for isolated legacy lab networks, retro computing setups, low-bandwidth embedded device testing, or period-accurate networking demonstrations. It is also collected by enthusiasts of early consumer networking hardware from the Netgear lineup of that generation.
This Netgear MR814 wireless router has been inspected and is in good used condition. The unit shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with prior use. All components of the bundle are present: the router, desktop stand, and the original Netgear PWR-012-112 AC-DC power adapter. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
