Applications
The NB-DIO-24 was designed for use in Apple Macintosh II series computers — including the Mac II, IIx, IIcx, IIci, IIfx, and compatible NuBus-equipped models — as part of National Instruments' NB-series data acquisition line for the Mac platform. It allows a Macintosh to interface directly with TTL-level digital signals, making it suitable for laboratory automation, test and measurement systems, process control, and machine interfacing applications where the computer must monitor or drive external digital lines. The card is software-configurable for input or output on each of its three 8-bit ports and was typically used alongside NI-DAQ driver software and LabVIEW or LabWindows environments. This dates from the late 1980s — NI introduced its NuBus DAQ line alongside the original Mac II platform in 1987–1988, and the NB-DIO-24 was a foundational offering for researchers and engineers building automated test systems around the Macintosh. Today these cards are sought by legacy Mac II system maintainers, vintage computing collectors, and anyone running period-correct NI DAQ setups.
This National Instruments NB-DIO-24 Digital I/O Card has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was in use and functional. The PCB looks clean with no visible damage, broken traces, or missing components. The NuBus edge connector and 50-pin ribbon connector appear to be in good shape. The included ribbon cable is intact. Normal light handling wear is present on the board and binder. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
