Applications
The ETHER-8TP+ was designed for IBM PC/XT and AT-class computers and any ISA-bus compatible system from the early-to-mid 1990s that needed Ethernet connectivity. The 8-bit ISA form factor made it compatible with the oldest IBM PC and XT machines that did not support 16-bit ISA slots, as well as standard AT-class 16-bit ISA systems (which accept 8-bit cards). The dual RJ45/AUI configuration gave it flexibility: the RJ45 port connected directly to a 10BASE-T hub or switch using standard UTP Cat3/Cat5 cable, while the AUI port allowed connection to external transceiver modules for coaxial or fiber Ethernet segments. Cards like this were used in early office PC networks, academic labs, and industrial PCs running DOS and early Windows, and today they remain sought after by vintage PC enthusiasts and retrocomputing hobbyists maintaining original XT/AT-era hardware.
