Applications

The CRMC-FX400D was a mainstream internal CD-ROM drive of the mid-1990s, designed for IBM PC-compatible desktop systems running MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and similar operating systems of the era. At 4x speed, it represented the performance standard of around 1995, before 8x, 12x, and faster drives became common. These drives are used today primarily for restoring and maintaining vintage 486 and early Pentium-era PC builds, running period-correct software, and playing CD audio titles from the 1990s. The standard 40-pin IDE/ATAPI interface means it drops directly into any system with an IDE controller, and the 5.25-inch half-height bay format was universal in desktop cases of that generation.

Condition: Used
This Mitsumi CRMC-FX400D 4x Quad Speed internal IDE CD-ROM drive is in used condition. The drive was listed as tested for functionality in the original description; please confirm testing status internally before publishing that claim, as this model is not in the tested-by-default category. The beige faceplate is present and installed. The unit shows light cosmetic wear consistent with age — the faceplate and metal chassis show minor discoloration and surface marks typical of a mid-1990s drive. The rear IDE interface, audio header, and DC power connectors appear intact and undamaged. Manufacture date is November 1995, visible on the top label.
