Applications

DDR PC2100 DIMMs like this Micron module were the mainstream desktop memory standard from roughly 2001 through 2003, used in systems built around Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478), Intel Pentium III, AMD Athlon XP, and AMD Duron processors on motherboards with the Intel 845, SiS 645, VIA KT266, and similar chipsets. PC2100 (DDR266) DIMMs are backward and forward compatible within the DDR generation — a PC2100 module will run in a PC2700 slot at the lower speed, making them useful for older system repairs and upgrades. Today these modules are primarily sourced for maintaining legacy desktop workstations, older point-of-sale terminals, and industrial PCs that still use first-generation DDR platforms.
