Description
Micro Air MAA-40 Ventilated Workstation HEPA Filter 50x32 Clean Room 1.5HP 115V
The Micro Air MAA-40 is a freestanding ventilated workstation designed for clean room and laboratory environments. It uses a 1.5 HP blower motor to draw air through a ceiling-mounted HEPA filter and direct the filtered airflow downward onto the work surface, creating a positive-pressure clean zone directly over the work area. This downflow configuration makes it suited for tasks requiring a particle-controlled environment without a full enclosure.

Applications
The Micro Air MAA-40 is a downflow clean bench — a type of ventilated workstation that provides a filtered air curtain over the work area to protect the work or product from airborne particulates. Unlike a fume hood (which exhausts contaminated air away from the operator), a downflow clean bench blows HEPA-filtered air toward the work surface, making it appropriate for tasks where product cleanliness is the priority: electronics assembly, optical component handling, precision mechanical work, or small-scale clean room operations. This style of workstation was a common fixture in semiconductor fabrication support areas, quality control labs, and R&D clean rooms from the 1980s through the 2000s, offering an affordable self-contained alternative to full-room laminar flow systems. The MAA-40's variable speed control allows the operator to adjust airflow intensity to suit the application.
This Micro Air MAA-40 Ventilated Workstation was deinstalled from a working clean room in a research and development laboratory. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it came out of an active R&D environment where it was previously in service. The unit shows surface wear and paint scuffing consistent with clean room use, and the exterior retains its original blue painted finish. No manual or peripherals are included.
