Description
Metrologic MS9540 VoyagerCG CodeGate Barcode Scanner KB Wedge PS/2 w/ Stand
The Metrologic MS9540 VoyagerCG is a handheld laser barcode scanner featuring CodeGate technology — a presentation-mode trigger system that holds the decoded data until the operator presses the activation button, preventing accidental scans in high-traffic environments. It connects to a host computer via a keyboard wedge interface, passing barcode data through the keyboard port without requiring separate software drivers or a powered interface box. This unit includes the original CodeGate cradle stand and a Metrologic 53002B AT-to-PS/2 KB wedge cable.

Applications
The MS9540 VoyagerCG was designed for retail point-of-sale, library, healthcare, and light industrial data-entry environments where a keyboard-wedge connection is required — particularly legacy systems running DOS, Windows, or other platforms that recognize keyboard input natively. The KB wedge interface was the dominant barcode scanner connection standard through the 1990s and into the mid-2000s, allowing scanners to work with virtually any PC, terminal, or cash register without drivers or serial port configuration. CodeGate technology made the VoyagerCG well suited to environments where a scanner sits in a stand and scans multiple items in sequence — the operator aims, the scanner reads and holds the data, and a button press commits the scan, reducing errors from unintended reads. These scanners remain in use today on legacy POS systems, AS/400 and IBM midrange terminals, and older DOS-based inventory platforms that still rely on PS/2 keyboard-wedge input.
This Metrologic MS9540 VoyagerCG CodeGate barcode scanner has been inspected and is in good used condition. The scanner body is clean with normal light wear. The stand shows some yellowing of the plastic, which is typical aging on white/cream ABS from this era. The 53002B AT-to-PS/2 KB wedge cable is included and appears intact. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
