Hard disk drive surface certification and testing system with four independent test stations. Measures CSS (Clearance Slider Surface) contact, acoustic emissions, and strain using 3-axis micro-gaging technology.

Applications

Used in hard disk drive manufacturing for CSS surface certification and head-disk interface validation. The system performs simultaneous multi-station testing with real-time acoustic and strain monitoring. Compatible with HDD production lines requiring quantified contact measurement and acoustic signature analysis during drive qualification.

This Lotus Technologies 7100 CSS Hard Drive Tester System has been powered up and partially tested at our facility. The system computer boots to OS/2, the CSS software loads and communicates with the motor controller module, and all four 7100 CSS modules respond to the software. However, the four spindle motors in the CSS modules fail to turn, which is the primary fault. The system is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair with this known defect. All components shown are included: four 7100 CSS tester modules with 3-axis micro-gaging assemblies, one 7000 motor controller module, one 7000 rackmount system computer (with 486DX/ALI M1425C motherboard, Lotus 1100-0010 Acoustic Emissions PCB, two Lotus 1100-0030 Smart Strain Amplifiers, Delta-Tau PMAC-PC controller, and Turbo Comm +4 serial board), and all interconnecting cables.
