The Linksys SLM2048 is a 48-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Smart Switch from Linksys' Business Series — a division of Cisco Systems. It provides web-managed Layer 2 switching for small and medium-sized business networks, offering VLAN support, QoS, link aggregation, and port-based management through a browser-based GUI, without the cost or complexity of a fully managed enterprise switch. The two integrated miniGBIC (SFP) uplink slots allow fiber or additional Gigabit connections for backbone or inter-switch links.

Applications
The SLM2048 is designed for small and medium business (SMB) network infrastructure where a step up from an unmanaged switch is needed without the overhead of a full enterprise managed switch. It supports VLAN segmentation, QoS prioritization for VoIP and video traffic, and LACP link aggregation, making it well-suited for office wiring closets, server rooms, and department-level network distribution. The miniGBIC uplink slots allow fiber uplinks or stacking to a core switch. Released in the mid-2000s as part of Linksys' Cisco-aligned Business Series, the SLM2048 was widely deployed in small business and branch-office environments and remains a capable and cost-effective gigabit switch for legacy SMB networks.
This Linksys SLM2048 48-Port Gigabit Smart Switch has been pulled from a working network environment where it was previously in active use. It has been visually inspected and photographed. The chassis is in good cosmetic condition with light surface wear typical of used rack equipment — the top cover shows minor handling marks but no dents, cracks, or broken ports. All 48 RJ-45 ports and both miniGBIC SFP slots appear intact. The switch has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility.
