The Linksys PSCEPP ParaSCSI Plus is an external parallel-to-SCSI converter that connects SCSI devices to a PC through the standard parallel printer port — no SCSI host adapter card required. It bridges the parallel port (DB-25) to a SCSI-1 or SCSI-2 bus, letting a desktop PC access scanners, hard drives, tape drives, Zip drives, and CD-ROM drives without opening the case.

Applications
The ParaSCSI Plus was designed in the mid-to-late 1990s for PC users who needed to attach external SCSI peripherals — scanners, removable drives, CD-ROM drives, tape backup units — without installing an internal SCSI card. It was particularly useful on laptops, slim desktop PCs, or any system where adding a card was not practical. The parallel port was the one external interface common to virtually every PC of that era, and adapters like this one made it serve double duty as a SCSI host. Daisy-chaining support for up to seven devices made it flexible enough for small desktop SCSI chains. While largely superseded by USB and FireWire for external storage, these adapters remain in use for legacy SCSI device support on older systems and for retro computing and data recovery purposes.
