The LG Chem RESU (Residential Energy Storage Unit) line is one of the most widely deployed residential solar battery systems in North America and Europe. The RESU10H is designed for grid-tied residential solar installations where homeowners want to store excess solar generation and use it during evening hours or during utility outages. When paired with an SMA Sunny Boy Storage inverter, the system allows the home to island from the grid during an outage and continue running on stored solar power. It is also commonly used for time-of-use rate arbitrage — charging when solar generation is high (or when grid rates are low) and discharging during peak-rate evening hours to reduce electricity costs. The C-Type variant specifically uses a high-voltage DC architecture optimized for the SMA Sunny Boy Storage communication and power interface. No routine maintenance is required; the integrated BMS handles all cell balancing and protection functions automatically.
